Letter of the Week: Ll

The current Letter of the Week is “Ll”.  This was a great letter to work with.  I was able to find plenty of words and pictures to match!!

Activities for the Letter of the Week include  writing practice sheets and Play-Doh mats in both ZB and DN fonts. The mats have many other uses, but that’s what they’re commonly referred to as. There’s also a good selection of letter tile mats for the letter “Ll”.  As always, there’s also the “My Letter Ll Book” in both fonts as well.

You can find all my Letter of the Week activities for this week in the letter “Ll” folder. You can find that by clicking the button…..

Johnny Appleseed

As many of you may know, Saturday is John Chapman’s birthday.  You may better know him as Johnny Appleseed.  Some think that’s he’s merely fiction, but he was indeed a real man.  Today, I have printables to share that are all about Johnny Appleseed!!

Up first is a strip puzzle that teaches and re-enforces number order from 1-10.  Next up is a set of jigsaw puzzles that are 4, 8, and 12 pieces and feature great art of Johnny.  You’ll also find a tic-tac-toe game that has a variety of game pieces to go with it.  Then there’s a memory game to test the kids thinking and memory skills.  You’ll need to print out 2 pages of each page for this one!!  I don’t want to forget the Johnny Appleseed shadow match game.  This one is great for visual recognition.

More along the educational line than the skill areas, there’s “Johnny Appleseed Beginning Letter Match”.  This one, the kids will match the apple tree object to the letter that it begins with.  Johnny of course is carrying these “seedy” letters!!  You can find these 2-part cards here.

Finally, I made did some copywork for Johnny Appleseed.  I’m pretty proud of the way that it turned out.  The first book is all cursive.  The second book is for a variety of ages/grades.  It contains cursive, ZB, and DN.  The cursive copywork book is just simply, “Johnny Appleseed Copywork“.  The second copywork book is based on the poem In Praise of Johnny Appleseed by Vachel Lindsay and is In Praise of Johnny Appleseed Copywork“.

I hope that you find something that you can use to celebrate John Chapman’s birthday and it will inspire you to find out more about the man behind the name of Johnny Appleseed!!

If you use my printables, please leave a comment and let me know if you liked it or if the kids enjoyed the activity.  I can only create from the input that I get from those that use it most often!!  Also, If you enjoy my blog, posts, or printables that I share, please click the button below to vote for me.  Thanks!!

A – Z Flashcards

Just one quick thing to share tonight!!  I made some a-z flashcards for a request in my group.  These are made with real images for better recognition.  I made the large so that they’re easy to handle and could easily be used for a “circle time” activity.

There are 2 sets of these flashcards.  You can find the first one here.  They are just plain flashcards.  The second set is identical, but they have the words of the objects located nearby.

If you use these flashcards, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT!!  I like to know who’s using my creations and if they enjoy them.  I can only keep creating by the feedback that I receive.
