I’ve had a great week….and pretty interesting one too. I decided it’d be a great time to get caught up and do some blogging!!
The race was rain delayed on Sunday and was supposed to happen on Monday at noon. However, it was later announced that they were going to go for a 7pm race time. I’ve gotta say this was a Daytona 500 that will go down in history!! It was the first time in 58 years that the race had even been rain delayed. Then the action during the race was crazy and bizarre!!
Jimmie Johnson was wrecked on lap 2. Jeff Gordon lost an engine. There were some pretty big wrecks. Oh, and let’s not forget the red flag that stopped all the cars on the backstretch!! Juan Pablo Montoya was coming off pit road and hit one of the jet dryers on the track. It caused a huge fire. Once they finally got it put out, they had to repair the track. I think it was about a 2 hour stop. The funniest part of the whole thing was that Brad Keselowski was on Twitter and taking photos during the red flag!!
The very best part of the race is that Dale Jr finished in 2nd place!! He had an awesome win and I’m so happy. It was exciting to see. Matt Kenseth won the race, which is just fine for that WI boy. It’s going to be Jr’s year though!!
In other news, I lost 3 lbs. this week!! I’m feeling so awesome and I’m really happy. I didn’t realize I felt “bad” until I felt so good!! Yesterday, I started having serious digestion issues. Then tonight at dinner, I just couldn’t eat at all. Every bite I took, it got stuck in my throat. Suddenly I had to RUN and it all came up. I puked 3 times!! It’s the first time since I’ve had the surgery that it happened. My thought is that I have a stomach virus because my whole stomach is upset. Not something I want to do again though and I must say, it wore me out and I’m so ready for bed now!!
Religion class is going great and I’m hoping to get some of our activities posted soon. Just so much to keep up with right now. If you’re looking for things for Lent though, please utilize my “search” feature in the column on the right. I’ve shared many things over my blogging time and it’s all still available for you to use. I want the kids to benefit from the things that I’ve used or found over the years!!
I guess that’s all for now. More to come soon. Have a great weekend!!

For most of the winter, we look forward to the beginning of race season. We’re true NASCAR fans!! Winter isn’t totally miserable because we do have the Green Bay Packers and they’re the ultimate!! However, racing is a pure adrenaline rush and there’s so much hype leading up to opening day.
Now granted, we have had the Bud Shootout and the Gatorade Duals, but it’s still not the main event. It’s not opening day of racing season!!
For the first time in history, the Daytona 500 was
cancelled postponed!! It started as a rain delay and looked like the skies might clear. As the hours went on, it didn’t look so good. The dryers even made it out on the track when the skies opened up again. Had it stayed clear, we could have had a night race because Daytona is equipped, but it just wasn’t meant to be.
With all the wild rides and excitement of the events leading up to today, the truck race and the Nationwide race, I can’t help but feel today was
cancelled postponed for a reason. Jeff Gordon took a wild ride at the Shootout. There’s been crazy wrecks all weekend in the other racing events. Today just had to be a way of God looking out for these race car drivers. I know many will disagree with me, but I believe everything happens for a reason. It just wasn’t meant to be today.
We should have a pretty fun and exciting Monday though!! (Alright, so it’s not cancelled….it’s postponed.) Let’s go racing boys….and let’s WIN Jr!!

I’d like to wish all my family, friends, and readers a Happy Valentine’s Day. This isn’t typically a day that we celebrate (as we got married on a different “holiday”). However, I received a beautiful card from hubby. Of course, he showed me up because I had nothing for him….but my love!! HAHA
I don’t think that there could be a better day!! We got up and I started the VCR to tape the beginning of the Daytona 500. I wanted the pre-race show and all!! Then we went to church and out to lunch with some friends that are more like extended family. When we got home, we were all full and comfy, so we sat down to watch the race. Other than a couple delays to repair a hole in the track, it was a great race!! Take a watch at these final laps [you only have to watch 2 to 2 1/2 minutes worth]….and pay very close attention to my man (Jr. #88) coming up from 10th to 2nd in 1 lap to finish in 2nd place !!
It was another good day for the Olympics. We’re (USA) still ahead in medal count. Still lots of sports to come though. Our women kicked some butt in hockey against China today. We didn’t fair as well in pairs skating. Here’s the medal count so far and we see a couple more countries entering the medal scene….
More yet to come!!
Today was the day that the racing season begins. NASCAR’s big race, the Daytona 500 was today. This is a day that this family looks forward to every year. We have a need for speed!!
It was an awesome race. There was a threat of rain from early on in the race. Unfortunately, the rain did come and the race ended before the checkered flag. Matt Kenseth was the winner, if you call it winning without being on the track. He was on the lead when the red flag came out to stop the race due to the weather.
The 3 Hendrick cars were something to deal with. I should say 4 because Mark Martin was up there too. Even Tony Stewart with his new team was in the front of the pack. At one point, Jr was pushed below the yellow line in an effort to block his position by Brian Vickers. Jr came strait back up on the track and a wreck followed. Vickers of course, blamed Jr for this. It seemed if anything went wrong during this race, it was Jr’s fault. He missed his pit….his fault. He had the edge of his wheel on the line in the pits….they held him for a whole lap. The wreck….blamed on Jr with no mention of Vickers pushing him below the line. Good thing that me and my man are tough!! HAHA
All I can say is, this is going to be an awesome racing season. Next up….California!!
Now that the new year is here, it’s time for us NASCAR fans to start thinking about racing. It won’t be long ’til we hear those engines cranking up again. Yes, it’s almost time for the Daytona 500 and the start of the racing season!! Each year lately, I say that I won’t be watching NASCAR like I usually do every Sunday (and sometimes Saturday night), but how can I not!?!? I love it!! I wasn’t excited about the Car of Tomorrow (CoT), which is now the car of today. But then my man, #88 Jr., joins Hendrick which is the BEST team out there. The only problem is, now Miss K and I are teammates and it’s much harder to fight with each other. Although, we’re still opponents on the track and nobody really wants Jeff Gordon to win!! HAHA Then there’s my daddy and his man, Jimmie Johnson, who’s won the championship 3 years strait now. Mark Martin joins the team this year and it’s going to make for one heck of a season.
We’ll just have to wait until the end of the season to see how it all sorts out. In the meantime, I’m putting a Daytona 500 ticker at the top of my blog to keep track of just how many days until I’m on the edge of my seat and yelling for MORE SPEED!! Only thing better is being in the stands with the roar of the engines, seats vibrating as the cars fly by in a blur, the smell of exhaust and the sight of your driver in the winners circle!!
If you ain’t rubbin’, you ain’t racing!!
