The Schoolhouse is not only our homeschool room, but it’s also our guest room and my office. The closet also serves as storage for my religion class items that I purchase myself and hubby’s wardrobe. There’s a futon that our guests sleep on when they come visit. It also serves as a relaxing spot for reading or other light work. At each end of the futon are a set of drawers. Those hold all our craft supplies and many of our paper products.
There’s also 2 desks in there. And yes, they match!! There’s one for Miss K and one for me. We have all our needs in each of our desks. We have a large armoire that stores all our supplies. It has all our paper, pens, tape, and lots of other materials. The the narrowest wall, we have a small bookcase that holds all our school books. She has one shelf and I have another. It holds my teacher’s editions and photography books. Her books, tablets, and binders are there as well. Above the bookcase is our white board. On top of the bookcase is all our dry erase markers, erasers, and stuff like that.
Since it’s such a small room, we like to keep it tidy. We can’t stand it when it gets dirty and cluttered. There’s just not enough room in there for mess!!
That’s it!! I’m sorry I don’t have any photos, but things are crazy busy as you all can imagine. That’s the total sum of our school room. It’s our little Schoolhouse and we love it!!
I’ve linked this post up to the “NOT Back to School” Blog Hop and can’t wait to check out with other high school homeschoolers have in their rooms!!

First off, I have to say that I’ve had a glitch with a couple of my blog posts. Sometime today or tomorrow, I’ll get a couple of posts from last week up. I know it’s something I did wrong, I just have to figure out what and now isn’t the time, so stay tuned!!
Today is the first day of 8th grade!! I can’t believe how fast the summer went. More so, I can’t believe how fast Miss K is growing. Things are just moving too rapidly, but I think I’m ready whether I want to be or not!!
I know it’s only the first day, but we’re off to a great start. That’s really important. I’ve often found that the first day can set the tone for the rest of the year. Miss K is focused and ready to go. She took the inititive to start reading on her own and work on the subjects that she could without assistance. At the beginning of the school year, there’s never much for me to “teach”.
There’s no doubt that Miss K will have a busy year this year though. With age comes responsibility, or so I tell her!! HAHA Tis true in life though and it really is true in school too. We’ve stayed with the same curriculum again this year as it works great for us. Her classes this year are….
Algebra I, English 8 (Writing & Grammar), Space & Earth Science, The American Republic (Social Studies/History), Vocabulary, Excursions in Literature, and she’ll be doing religious education through church which will be “History of the Church” this year
There’s also additional studies of life skills, fine arts, current events, health, and a couple others that I throw in there. So it’s going to be a full busy year. We expect to have fun and enjoy it though. Learning isn’t much fun if there isn’t a little fun to be had by all!! I must say that I haven’t decided which books we’ll read aloud together this year though. She’s at such an odd stage. So many “teen” books are vampires and school romances. She hates that stuff…..and quite frankly so do I. She’s not quite ready for adult books yet. So, together we’ll find the balance we need to read aloud together!!
There you have it….8th grade at The Schoolhouse!!
We’re back and ready…..are you?? When do you head “back to school”?? Do you school year round?? Inquiring minds want to know all this and more, so leave a comment and let me know!!
