Today is my little girls 18th birthday!! I can’t believe how fast time has gone. She’s an amazing
girl woman who brings joy to everyone that she touches. She has a smile that brightens the world around her. I’m so proud to be her Momma and I’m honored that God chose me to take care of this angel.
She has hopes and dreams….and I have no doubts that she’ll accomplish all of the, one way or the other. She gives it her all in everything that she does. She has a faith that runs deep and never doubts what God has planned for her.
As I reflect on the past 18 years, all I have is love and joy. I know she’s not perfect, she is mine after all. She’s truly a great
kid woman and has a bright future. I remember being told I couldn’t have kids and I remember the day I found out that I was pregnant. Life would never be the same!! She has always done things her way and she has amazing strength….and some that she doesn’t even know she has. She was my partner all the times that hubby was gone due to military life. Her dad is her buddy and they enjoy getting in trouble together. Through it all, she knows that we’re her parents and love her unconditionally.
Happy Birthday sweet
girl young lady!! Daddy and I wish you all the best today….and every day of your life to come. We can’t wait to see what lies ahead!! You may be grown up, but you’ll always be our little girl!! 😀
Sixteen years ago today, I had the most beautiful baby girl that God could ever bless anyone with. I just can’t believe how fast time has gone. It seems like just yesterday, but no, instead its…..
You are the greatest kid and each day I’m so proud of you. I see the woman/lady that you’re becoming and I know that everything is going to be alright. You know what you want and you’re going after it….and don’t ever stop doing just that!! Keep after those dreams and remember to enjoy these days and the good times. You deserve all the best and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for him blessing my life with you and everything that comes with it!!
HAPPY SWEET 16, BEAUTIFUL “LITTLE”GIRL!!
~Momma & Dad
P.S. Your teacher says that you can have the day off, so you better have some fun!!
April first already?!?! Really!?!?
I can’t believe how fast time is going. I can’t believe that it’s already April.
This is going to be a busy month for us, but it’s all going to be good!! I just wish that time would slow down a bit. I miss some of the time I used to have to just kick back and enjoy. April also means that we’re close to the end of the homeschool year. WOW!! The first year of high school will be down and out. So many other things coming this month, but again, it’s all good.
To all the “fools” that take the time to read my blog and follow along, a very Happy April Fools’ Day to you and I hope that you don’t get too many pranks pulled on you!!

It’s been a couple of very crazy weeks around here. Most of it’s been all good, but some of it’s just been plain busy. Now, where to I start??
Miss K has had several ortho appointments over the past month. In the last couple weeks, they got more frequent with the preparation for her braces. On Thursday of last week, she finally got her braces on. She looks so darn adorable with them and I swear, she’s smiling even more than she ever has!! Call her “brace face” or “railroad tracks” and she’ll just laugh at you.
The weekend prior to that (Saturday the 15th), was Texas Motor Speedway. We look forward to that every single year and countdown until we get to go racing!! This year was no exception. My parents came over as usual for the weekend, then we all traveled to TMS together. The weather was great, although a little windy. It kept the temperatures down though and made it quite nice. The race seemed to be over in a blink as there was only 2 cautions and those were for debris. It was a totally awesome race, but very disappointing to have Greg Biffle win. None of us are fans!! Jimmie was so close to having the win and all the Hendrick cars did well. Jr finished 10th in another strong race!! Him and Jeff Gordon were together much of the race and racing each other hard. Loved it!!
The next day, we celebrated my birthday….a day early. Lean Green got me a delicious marble cake with pretty blue frosting and darker blue flowers. Everyone sang to me and all I could so was sit there and laugh!! I can’t believe I had to put another candle on the cake already. Time is flying!! Is there a way to stop getting older?? SHEESH It was a great day and I love my family so much!!
My weight loss is moving along. I’m staying pretty consistent. I gained 1.6 lbs. last week. That sent me into a funk. I wasn’t expecting it at all. I knew that I was due for a fill, but I’d also had an upset stomach and my hiatal hernia has been irritated, so I wasn’t keeping all my food down. I thought for sure I should have lost something. Then on Wednesday, I had my fill and the surgeon was “aggressive” because he’s leaving. That irritated my hiatal hernia more and I’ve puked just about everything up that I try to eat. Basically I’m on liquids and purees to get it all calmed down again. The positive….I lost 4.8 lbs. this week!! I’m so happy and it sure makes up for last week. I have to say that I don’t know anyone would intentionally want to puke to lose weight though. I know it’s an eating disorder and I’m doing it for a reason, but I’m so over it!!
I have 2 more appointments yet this week. One is for the lovely female check and the other is my diabetic exam. I’m a bit nervous as I do love my sweet tea even more since surgery. I haven’t taken my meds since surgery either. My numbers are good at home, but goodness only knows what my actual blood tests will show. The rest….bp and cholesterol….I’m not worried about. But oh the sugar!!
So now you’re all caught up!! I do hope that things calm down so that I can get back to my photography and blogging. I know I don’t do either a lot, but I miss what I was doing. We’re almost done with homeschool too!! We’ll be spending the summer on Algebra I, but that’s no biggie. I’m ready for a break!!
Now that you’re caught up here, what are you all up to??

We ended the birthday party event in a special way for Miss K last night. We took her to the local dirt track to watch some championship racing. It was just so much fun and the weather was perfect!!
We left about the time the gates open. We remembered from a previous trip many years earlier, that they fill up pretty fast. We paid our extra $1 so that we could sit in the actual seats instead of on bleachers. As we waited, we watched the trailers getting to the track and setting up the cars. The temps cooled off as the sun went down. We had to give mom and dad coats of ours because we knew it’d be damp and chilly. Good thing because it was the perfect night for dirt track racing!!
It started with trials in the different classes. I couldn’t pick a winner to save my soul!! Finally the last couple races, I had a couple that finished well. At the half way point, all the guys that qualified the night prior came out and drew numbers for starting positions. Then the big races started!!
By the time, the track was drying out and they were really sliding around the corners. The dust would just hang in the air. There was some really great battles. There was races and they’d go quick. The trials were 10 laps, but all the championship racing was at least 25 laps. The little sprint cars were the fastest!! We all thought that they’d wreck more, but they didn’t. They just lapped and lapped.
The whole night, the guy on the flag stand was being questioned. He really didn’t throw the caution as much as he should have. He endangered some of those drivers. They’re stalled out in the corners with cars coming right at them and dodging them. Had all of us on our feet at times to see who was or wasn’t going to make it through.
Now, as I sit here recalling the fun from last night, I’m watching the big boys race around the track at Dover. Oh how we all love some good racing….no matter how many days in a row or the type!!
Today was the day of Miss K’s birthday party. It was small as expected this year, but it was good. The people that matter the most and love her were all here. It also made for a slower relaxing day for all of us. I didn’t have to constantly be on the go and keep food full.
Her best friend was here. They played and laughed all day long!! My 3 goddaughters were also here and they just adore Miss K. My parents were here and with a smaller crowd, they spent more time with her. The food was great as “mother” put together some awesome Mexican food for us. There was tomales, flautas, spanish rice and beans. Of course, there was a fruit tray and veggie tray too. There was plenty to accompany the food too!! We finished it all off with a huge marble cake.
She got pretty much everything that she asked for this year along with some monkey gifts. That’s already in an envelope and ready to deposit. She kept very little for herself. Miss K knows she needs the funds for her future!!
I know this is short, but the party was small and we just all enjoyed the day. Now, we’re on our way to the second half of her party day. That means more to come later!!
Today, the teenager advances a year into the teens and leaves us wondering where time has gone and why it’s gone so fast. It’s been great though and I wouldn’t have missed it for anything in the world!! Miss K is the most amazing kid and she makes me proud everyday that she’s mine.
We really pulled one over on her today!! She knew that I had to get up early to go rent my mom’s space for the craft sale. She told me to call her and wake her up on my way home and she’d get ready and we’d go to the mall. Today is an official holiday from homeschool, so no worries there!! Anyway, I had other plans as Lean Green took the day off without telling her, so he went with me. On the way home, we picked up Chic-Fil-A for breakfast. It happens to be her favorite!! By my not calling, she was still sleeping when I got home. I walked in and told her to wake up, that I’d gotten breakfast for a surprise. I got the biggest bestest smile I’d ever seen!! When her eyes where open, I told her I had another surprise and I went to the hall and brought Lean Green into her room. Another giant smile!! She stretched and yawned and got out of bed and we all ate breakfast together.
We then asked her what she wanted to do and she said she wanted to go to Wichita Falls. I was really tired, so I said I’d take a nap and see how I felt for the drive. When I got up, we knew that we weren’t going to make that drive and I said let’s go to the mall. Ended up being a great trip!! She got some new shoes, a skirt, and a new dress. We ended our shopping trip with some frozen yogurt at the new shop. It was delish and she was happy!!
Before the nighttime television shows started, we took her out to dinner. It was her choice and she made a good one!! We all enjoyed it and it was a cozy evening at home. Later, my parents called and sang to her, which was just so darn sweet!! She said it was the best birthday ever!!
Happy Birthday my sweet girl!! We love you so much and we can’t wait to see what’s ahead for you. You’re truly precious and we were blessed the day you entered our lives!!
Yes, that’s right….today is my birthday!! I got a great birthday card from my parents in the mail yesterday and today, The Man and Miss K have my day all planned for me. I also got a card from my in-laws yesterday, which was nice.
I’m supposed to start the day with breakfast in bed….french toast and bacon, with a big glass of milk. Yummy!! Lunch will be take-it-as-it-comes. For dinner, hubby is going to grill steaks. Kiddo is making macaroni salad and corn on the cob. MMMM I can taste it all now!! Later in the evening, we’ll have some cake. I haven’t seen what my cake looks like yet because The Man tried to sneak it in the door when he came home, but I’m sure it’s good. He “surprises” me with one almost every year. He gets it from a local bakery and they’re delish!!
Sunday, we’re going to church for Palm Sunday Mass. Afterward, we’ll run by Sam’s and get some sliced meats that they have so we can make homemade subs. We’ll also have to get some provolone and I think we have everything else we need for them. By the time we get home, ‘Dega will be starting. Ah yes, NASCAR at the super speedway. Nothing better!! Well, almost nothing…..live and in-person at TMS is about the best!! HAHA
I truly am blessed. I know that I’m going to have a great weekend. As much as I really don’t need to get any older, it doesn’t matter when I’m with Lean Green and Miss K. They make my day the best there is and well, it’s all worth turning another year older!!
So there you have my birthday weekend. What are your weekend plans??
Yes, it’s my birthday, but I still have a gift for you, my readers!! I hope that you all will be able to use it and enjoy it too, because I sure did have fun making it!! My gift to all of you is an interactive prepositions book. It features adorable circus graphics from AnnieThingsPossible and they’re perfect for this book. The kids (or adult) will cut out the circus clowns. They will then answer the question, “Ringmaster, Ringmaster….Where is the circus clown?” by placing the circus clown in the correct location for the preposition used.
Here’s a collage of a couple sample pages from the book….
If you use these FREE printable gift, please leave a comment and let me know if you liked it or if the kids enjoyed the activities. I use your input to create from and need to know if I’m making what’s needed and being used!! Also, if you enjoy my blog, posts, or printables that I share, please click one (or all) of the buttons below or in the right hand column under “Rate My Blog” to vote for me. Thanks you very much!!

Ah yes, today is the birthday of my hubby. He’s yet another year finer….and balder!! HAHA (I’m in trouble when he reads this now!! 🙁 ) Kiddo is out of town (we actually will spend the day on the road), but we celebrated ahead of time. We took him out to eat and had a couple of very nice evenings together as a family before she left. It always makes him a little sad when we’re not together to celebrate special days, especially since over the years, the Army kept us apart for so many of them. But by taking a couple evenings together, he really got to enjoy himself and celebrate another year.
Lean Green is an awesome man and deserves the very best on his special day!! I know it’ll be a different kind of day because we’ll be on the road and probably stop off at a couple stores, but I hope it’s a good one. You always work so hard and make sure that we have all we need and this is the day to make sure that YOU have all you need. I love you, Honey!!
It’s time once again for me to blow the candles out on my birthday cake. I can’t believe how it just seems to come around so fast. It won’t be long before the candles on the cake light the whole thing on fire!! HAHA
The Man surprised me with a birthday cake and card. I would have had a certificate for the full hair treatment, but my beautitian wasn’t there when he went by to pick it up. Kiddo made me a special card and my parents are here to share in the day with me. My cake was even marble, which happens to be the best of both worlds.
I’m just so blessed and getting “old” isn’t so bad when you’re blessed with a life like I have. It was a great day and the race is still to come!!
Things today began to get back to “normal” now that the big party is over with. I typically get busy before K’s parties, but this one just really seemed to slam me. I was so exhausted last week and I felt like I was getting further and further behind. Now that it’s all over with, I can breath a sigh of relief. It all went off without a hitch!!
Hubby’s parents arrived on Friday and went home Sunday. My parents arrived on Thursday and went back this morning. We had a couple close friends at the party and 2 of K’s best friends were there as well. We’ve yet to find out where one missing friend was. Her ex-teacher wasn’t able to come because she’s sick. So, it was a smaller party than some years, yet a good sized one.
After all that, it was back to the Thrift Store today. Got up early to take the Man to work and saw my parents off. I took a little nap before the Thrift Store with Miss K. She’s not feeling well. Just allergies, but it sure does make her miserable. We’ll be watching close to make sure pneumonia does NOT settle in because of the allergies this year. Found a couple goodies at the Thrift Store, but it was fairly quiet there today. Too many “bosses” though!! ARG
Anyway, it was back home to lay on the couch and watch Open Season 2with kiddo. She needed to rest and so did I. Not much teaching got done, but that’s alright. We’re in good shape right now as it is. The movie was pretty funny, but I missed some of the original voices not returning. It’s too bad really, but that often happens. Funny just the same!!
Alright, off I go!! I’ve been typing this on commercial breaks, but time to head back to CSI: Miami. Out….
Today is the day that my precious girl becomes a PRETEEN!! EEK!!
With a house full of the people that mean the most to her, Miss K will celebrate her birthday. Oh what a day. It’s probably the most beautiful day we’ve had all year. As we go “down under”, I expect there will be lots of laughs, fun, and love to go around for all. So as K celebrates officially becoming a preteen, I wonder what’s yet ahead. OYE!!
Before I run off to create a certificate for best Aussie accent, I must first say….
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MISS K!! You’re so very loved and we hope that you have a great day and have many, many more of these special days ahead of you!!
