Today marks a very special day for me….
We’re celebrating our 25th anniversary!! That’s right, we’re silver!!
Our life together so far has been an interesting one, to say the least. Twenty of those were being married to the Army. There’s no part of that time that I’d do over. I’m so very happy. I’ve been so very blessed in so many ways. He’s my high school sweetheart, my best friend, the love of my life…..and so much more!! I can’t wait to see what else life has in store for us as we grow “old” together.
Honey, Happy 25th Anniversary!! I love you forever and always!!
For all the rest of you…..
May the luck of the Irish be with you and yours has it has been with me and mine and may God bless you as richly as he has us!!
Today is such as special day for Lean Green and me. Today, we celebrate our 24th anniversary!! I know that many couples choose to get married on Valentine’s Day, but for us, St. Patrick’s Day has been nothing but pure luck and love for us!!

I hope that each one of you has the luck of the Irish and is richly blessed on this St. Patty’s Day and all through the year!!
You’re still my lean green loving machine. Through the good times….and bad…..you’ve been my smile and my sunshine. I’m so blessed to have a man like you and there’s nothing that I’d change. I think we (God, us, and the Army) picked the PERFECT day for us to be married and celebrate each day and year of our lives together. (And look at what a great kid we got out of it, but don’t tell her!!)
Happy St. Pat’s Day anniversary Lean Green!!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day to my family, friends, readers, followers, and all those that just pop in!!

For 22 years and counting….
My parents are marking off their 43rd anniversary today. They’re so deserving of an awesome day. They’ve been the best life example there is. Nobody could know a more true and enduring love than they have. I found a great card for them this year. Sometimes it’s hard to find just what I want, but this one was almost perfect. It said so much of what I’d like to tell them. I wish that there was some sort of tribute that I could do for them. I was the main planner of their 40th anniversary party and it turned out to be everything they deserved. Actually, they deserved more, but it was just awesome the people that showed up and seeing them renew their vows. I only hope I can do something as wonderful for the best parents in the whole world when it’s their 50th. So for now Mother and Daddy….
I’ve seen this meme/questionaire floating around the blogoshere lately. I decided that since today is our anniversary, I might as well put my own take on it!! I hope you enjoy sharing our special day with us.
When was your wedding day? 17 March 1989
What day of the week was it? Friday
Did you get married in a church? Nope, we got married by a JP in a courthouse!!
How many in your wedding party? 1….a Best Man
Where was your reception? Some seafood restaurant in Aberdeen, MD.
How many guests were invited to your wedding? We didn’t invite many because it was out-of-town, even for us. My parents were there, along with his mom and 5 guys that were in AIT with The Man. His dad chose not to be there.
How long did you wait to tie the knot after your proposal? I think it was a matter of months after the proposal, but 3 years after we started dating.
Who did you hire as your photographer & videographer? Anyone who was there with a camera!!
Did you have a DJ or a band? Just the jukebox or radio that was playing in the background.
Did your father walk you down the aisle? HAHA I wanted him to, but he opened the door and said “get in there” and I walked in laughing.
What color were the bridesmaid dresses & groomsmen vests/ties? I had blue in my bouquet and his boutonniere. My mom and his mom also wore blue. However, all the military guys were in Army green….Class A’s!!
Who was your Maid Of Honor/Best Man? There was no Maid of Honor, but the Best Man was James Dawson.
Did you have a bridal shower? Nope!!
What type of limo did you get? HAHA My rental car and my parent’s car!!
Where did you go for your bachelorette/bachelor party? Three of the guys took us out to see sights in Baltimore.
What type of wedding gown/tux did you two wear? I had a beautiful gown that was perfect for me and it short sleeves and a shear lace neck/bodice. The Man was in Army green!!
How was the weather? It was a glorious, sunny and beautiful spring day!! You couldn’t ask for anything more perfect.
Where did you go on your honeymoon? We were supposed to drive to Delaware, but after dropping the guys off and having a couple drinks, we ended up staying at the Holiday Inn in Aberdeen!! HAHA
What was your favorite part of your wedding? The whole thing!! The people I cared the most about were there and it was a beautiful day. I had finally married the man I loved and we were about to start an amazing journey and find out just what “Army life” really was.
How long have you been married? 20 years TODAY!!
What would you change about the day? I don’t think I’d change anything about it. Sure I was prepared for a church wedding and the Army saw to it that didn’t happen, but I had a great day full of wonderful memories. If I had to change anything, it’d probably be that his dad wouldn’t have basically boycotted the wedding. His mom made it clear they didn’t want him to marry me and we know that’s why he wasn’t there, but that’s ok, because here we are 20 years later and even more in love than we were then!!
What advice have you gotten and would you give to newlyweds? There’s no problem that can’t be talked through. Stick it out and don’t give up. Divorce is just the easy way out and there’s nothing about life that’s easy. Love each other, respect each other and above all, be honest with each other.
We didn’t get married intentionally on St. Patrick’s Day. It just sort of happened that way. I had the dress, the invites were ordered and I had the flowers picked out. It was never going to be a big wedding, but then the Army stepped in. They told Lean Green that he wasn’t coming home after school, but going straight to Germany instead. That would have been a 2 year tour, so he called and asked if I wanted to get married sooner. He had already officially proposed, so I was all for it. He got permission from his instructor and I waited until I had vacation time, flew up to Maryland on a Monday and got the marriage license. We waited our allotted amount of time and were married on Friday. My parents weren’t about to miss it and brought his mom with them. His buddies in AIT rounded out the party and we had a blast!! I have the most amazing memories and so many pictures or our day. I think I was more nervous than him, but I knew he was the only one. We’d been together since our senior year and it was going to stay that way!! It all ended by a couple guys that couldn’t be at the ceremony having a $1 dance with me in the parking lot to the radio in the car and his instructor laughing at us. He said “ya’ll are so young, but he’s all yours now!!” and he has been ever since!!
So, that’s our story. Do you have a story?? If so, use the meme above to share it and let me know so that I can read it. I’m going to end with one of my favorite Irish Blessings. There’s so many of them, but I think this is my favorite….
