Calling All D3 Secret Agents!!

First, I have to tell you how much I’ve enjoyed my little break from blogging.  I accomplished a lot and feel really good about everything that I’ve done.  This set of materials for VBS is no exception and I’m very proud of how it turned out.  I hope all of you are as well and will be using it this summer….or in the future!!

AgencyD3_Logo-4color

This year, I made 10 different things to go with the “Agency D3” them for LifeWay’s VBS this year.  They’re all secret agent related….and I think quite fun!!  Any printable that has the Bible verse use is the NIV (New International Version).  If you need a different version, please contact me and I’ll see if I can change it (no promises though).

AgencyD3 byElaine SAMPLE

Clipart © LifeWay and is used with permission.  Some clipart from the internet is believed to be public domain and is used for educational purposes and without profit.

Here’s a list of this years materials and suggested uses….

1.  Scanner Handprint Craft – Use paint or stamp pad to put each child’s handprint on this scanner.  It includes the Bible verse and is a fun simple craft.

2.  Agent D3 Badge – Fold where indicated and let the kids have fun with this secret agent ID badge.

3.  Secret Agent Card – You can place each child’s photo on the card or leave the “secret agent” image.  Print the daily symbols on sticker paper and place on the card each day the child is in VBS.  Plain paper could be used as well and then glued on each day or at the completion of VBS.

4.  Evidence Tag – Students can note what they learned (evidence) or it has many other uses as well.

3.  Evidence Report – Child can fill this out after each lesson/activity for what they learned.  An area at the bottom for the teacher/parent/counselor to fill out for “grading”.  This also has many other uses.

6.  Fingerprint Card – Use paint or ink and place each students fingerprints on this card.  They can then look at them under a magnifying glass to see how each one is different (God made us special and unique).  There’s other uses as well.

7.  Entrance Sign – Place this on the wall/door for kids to “scan to enter” their hand each day as they arrive or to enter each activity/room as they enter (if they move around during the day).

8.  Secret Agent Pass – Use these for students as they move from room to room or activity to activity.  Can also be used a snack/lunch pass, bathroom pass, and so on.

9.  Secret Agent Notepad (blank pages) – This comes with a “leather” cover and blank lined pages to take notes, copy Bible verse, draw, or many other things.  The lines are different types and sizes to use to suit the needs of the ages/grades of kids.  Also, there’s one blank page for drawing.

10.  Secret Agent Notepad (activities) – This comes with a “sleuth” cover.  All the pages inside have a variety of activities including a word search, daily maze, Bible verse games, and more.  There’s also a couple blank pages and note pages.

AgencyD3 SecretAgent Notepad byElaine SAMPLE

The covers for the notepads can be used for whichever notepad you want.  I just wanted to put one cover per notepad.  Also, the pages in the notepads can be combined and used as wanted or needed.  You might want the leather cover with 3 lined pages and 1 activity or 4 activities and 1 lined page.  Just fold the pages and staple for a complete notepad of your choice!!

To download any of these printable activities, just click the link in the title or description of each item.  I hope that you can use them and that the kids get tons of enjoyment from them.  Please share some photos of your children with the activities and I love your comments, so leave one on this post or use the “contact” button in the right hand column….thanks!!

I’m in Business!!

As many of you know, I’ve been considering opening a store to sell my printables in. This isn’t an easy decision for me. I had to put a lot of thought and prayer into it. I wanted to do what’s right for my friends, followers, and readers. I also have to do what’s best for my family.

My ultimate decision is to open a store to sell my printable materials in. I’ve opened an Etsy shop, and also a shop on Teachers Notebook.

I want to assure you that I’ll continue to post freebies on my blog and Facebook. I’m not trying to get rich, but merely help add some income to my family. Giving and sharing my printables is just what comes naturally to me. It’s what I truly love to do and will continue to do.

I hope that all of you will keep following me on this blog and on Facebook. It’s also my hope that you’ll check out my stops. I’ve tried to keep my prices down, so hopefully you’ll find something that you can use. I’d also appreciate it if you’d spread the word to anyone that you know that might be looking for educational or Christian printables for home or school.

Please check out my stores and be sure to follow them so you know when I upload new products, have sales, and so on!!  You’ll also be able to access the shops at any time by clicking the buttons in my right hand column.

Remember, I fully plan on keeping this blog going.  I’ll be posting freebies here as often as I can.  I’m not on a schedule as it is, but they’ll be posted as often as possible.  One of the only changes will be that some of the freebies I post will be available for a limited amount of time, but very few of them.  Also, some of my older ones will be expired so that I can move them into my shops.  But please know this will only be a few of them and all the rest will continue as usual!!

Coloring Through Holy Week

This is the rest of my Easter lesson.  Before I get into that, I have to tell you, my write-the-room activity was a huge hit with the kids!!  Each of us (hubby, kiddo, and me) each took 3 kids and walked around to each “station”.  We read the little scrip to them about how it was part of Holy Week, the kids then traced the word on their worksheet.  After that, they went to their seats and colored the pictures.

When we were done with that, they worked on a coloring book that I made for Holy Week.  There are pictures for the different events of Holy Week, what day it occurred, and a brief description.  The kids had fun with this as well.  They didn’t get it completed, but it’s definitely something that they can take home to finish and have their families read to them.

Here’s a sample of a couple pages….

Clipart is hand-drawn by my husband © Elaine and © The Schoolhouse.  I can’t tell you how proud of him that I am, especially since I know it’s hard for him to “believe” that he has such an amazing talent.

While the kids were coloring, my daughter read The Tale of Three Trees: A Traditional Folktale.  I consider it to be one of the best stories there are.  I actually was introduced to this book several years ago by another catechist who read it to the whole RE program in church.

In addition, I made little Easter gift boxes for class.  Each one had a couple different small toys in it, one being a slap bracelet that had “hope”, “peace”, and “faith” on them that I picked up at Wal-Mart.  The main thing in the box was a plastic egg with one of each color jelly bean in it.  With that was the Jelly Bean Prayer that I sort of put together myself.  I used a combination of 3 different poems/prayers and made them into one that I really liked.  If you’re interested in the Jelly Bean Prayer cards, you can click here to download it.

That’s all for this year’s Easter lesson!!  What are you doing??

Easter Write-the-Room

I’ve been working hard on activities for class this week. I like for my kids to have fun and understand the importance of Easter at the same time.  I’ll be doing a couple different posts of what we’ll be doing with the littles this week.

This first activity is a writing one.  In fact, it’s a write-the-room.

My plan is to put the signs around the gym.  Then we’ll each take 2-3 kids and walk around telling them what each symbol on the card is.  The kids will then trace that word on the page.  After we go to each “station”, they’ll go back to their desks and color the pictures.  Note, this is for little ones that can’t write (only trace) yet.

Here’s a sample of each page….

I also typed up a script that we’ll use at each “station” to describe the picture and symbol.  If you’re interested in those definition, just click here.  You can use it as is, or put it into your own words.

Come back again soon because I’ll be posting more for this week’s lesson!!

Montessori Stations

I’ve been trying to decide what printables to make for Easter.  While taking notes for the ideas that are going through my head, I found some beautiful art work for Stations of the Cross.

I decided to make some Montessori inspired 3-part cards.  Each card has the beautiful art work on it to match to the clearly marked station, along with the event.  These are quite ink intensive, but I believe that they’re well worth it.  I think these are going to be a lovely addition to a lesson on the Stations of the Cross.

Here’s a sample of the 3-part cards….

Palm Sunday Paper Craft

This coming weekend starts Holy Week with Palm Sunday.  Tonight is the night that I teach my kids about Holy Week and what a special time it is.  I’ll do Easter next week, but tonight is all about the events leading up to one of the most important days there is.

I did several “lessons” with the kids, but our main focus was this paper craft project.  It’s a simple color, cut, and paste activity.  Choose the background you’d like to use, then the pieces that go with it.  Finally, glue all the pieces to the background and add “Hosanna!” to the project.

Here’s a sample of the completed project….

Follow Me

Tonight, my lesson is about teaching the kids about prophets, disciples, and apostles.  It’s important that they know what the differences are.  Part of teaching this is the “follow me” and “fishers of men” verse.

First is a simple coloring page using either Mark and Matthew.  They are from the NAS version of the Bible, so based on the Catholic version.  Next is a paper craft perfect for multiple ages.  The kids will write their ideas on the fish on how they can become “better” disciples of Jesus.  They will then glue them to the hook (or around it) to become “fishers of men”

Here’s a sample of these 2 items….

Water Miracles

This post has been updated after we did the project!!

Tonight, my lesson is on the miracles of Jesus.  I’m focusing on “Jesus Walks on Water” and “Jesus Calms the Storm”.  I had a few activities in my books to do with the kids.  I’m sure that they’ll like the variety.

These are just a few suggestions that I have to help enhance your lesson.  After we read the story, we did this page.  This is great for littles and has a lesson for one of these miracles.  I’m a huge fan of Rainbow Publishers and have the book that these crafts come from.  I was going to do one of them, until I came up with my own.

I wanted to do a special craft project with the kids though.  I decided to do something versatile and fun.  What I ended up making could be used with either miracle.  I’m sharing the project with you in hopes that you all can use and enjoy it.  I’ll be sure to let you know what my kids think of it too!!

What I plan on doing with the kids is to tear or cut shades of blue tissue paper.  We’ll glue them down to blue or gray construction paper.  While that dries, the kids will color the pieces of this craft (boat and Jesus) and cut them out.  We’ll then glue them on top of the sea waves (tissue paper).  With this printable, I’ve included some water waves that can be printed on cardstock if you don’t want to mess with cutting/tearing tissue paper and gluing it down.

Here’s a sample that I made to show the kids of how to assemble theirs tonight….

Jonah and the Whale

I’m so excited to share this craft that I made.  I just know that my kids are going to l-o-v-e it!!

My lesson is on obeying God and I just love relating Jonah to this lesson.  For this craft, the kids will color it and cut it out.  For my class, I’m going to cut the whale apart on the dotted line so there’s no mistakes!!  Then there’s a choice of which Jonah to put in the belly of the whale (big fish).  It can either be standing or kneeling/praying Jonah.  Also, I included a Bible verse about obeying that my class glued on the top of the whale (big fish), but this is optional or you can add your own.  One other thing that I did was to put dotted circles around the verse and Jonah for younger kids to cut out and older ones can directly cut him out.

Here’s a couple photos of the finish project (uncolored but assembled)….
