Holy Week Cross Craft

Posted by on 27 March 2013

This is the (uncolored sample) project that I did with my class tonight for Holy Week.

For this craft project, we colored the events of Holy Week.  Then, we cut them and the cross out.  Next they colored the paper plate with yellow, orange, and red so that it’d look like a sunset behind the cross.  (You could also use paint for the paper plate.)  I then read a story to the kids about the events of Holy Week and we placed the colored pictures on the cross in sequence order as we read about them.  Finally, we wrapped the purple ribbon around the cross and glued it to the paper plate.

Full instructions, the cross template, and coloring images for the events of Holy Week for this craft are included in the download.  The cross has to be printed on legal size paper.  If possible, I suggest using cards stock in legal size so that it’s more rigid.  I did mine on paper though and it worked just fine.  There is also a second version included that’s just printed on legal size paper, but you don’t have to mount it to the paper plate.

I hope that you’re kids enjoy this project as much as mine did.  When we completed it, they all wanted to see what each others turned out like since they all color a little differently and I had 4 different purple ribbons.  They all ran to their parents saying “look what I made” and “see my pretty cross”.  So satisfying to see them that happy!!

I’m so sorry, the pdf is corrupted and I can’t open it with Preview or Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Elisabeth, I’ve downloaded and opened this file on the other computer in the house. It worked fine. It will only be viewable with Adobe X and any older version will get a read error.

I hope that this helps and I hope that you’re able to download and use this craft!!

Anita, I’m not sure what you mean by “large”, but I’m very happy that you were able to use this with your class. My kids loved it and I plan on doing it again this year.
