World Bird Wednesday: Blackbird

Posted by on 30 May 2012

This will be my second entry for World Bird Wednesday.  I got a brand new lens, so I was snapping photos of EVERY bird that came to our feeders.  I typically don’t let any type of blackbird (crow, cowbird, etc.) stay because they’ll eat us out of house and home.  They also force other birds away from the feeders.

I made an exception for this one!!  It was alone and I just loved the way the sun was hitting it.  You can see how very jet black he is and then the “blue” of his head.  It was a lovely specimen for my new lens!!

Here’s my exceptional blackbird visitor….

I’d like to say THANK YOU to anyone who might stop by and leave a comment.  We’re on a stay-cation and part of my agreement is to stay off the computer!!  To honor that, I’ve set my posts to auto post at certain days/times (except this one as it begins tomorrow).  That also means that I won’t be able to return the favor of commenting, but I will get you the next time!!  Thanks for your understanding and I’ll see you next time around.

I’f you’d like to join in World Bird Wednesday or just look at other awesome pictures of birds all over the world, just stop by here and take a look!!

Please click here to vote for my blog….thanks!!

The sun on that black bird certainly shows up the beautiful colors through the black. Your new lens would get a big tick of approval from me! But – what brand etc. is it?

WOW!! Info like that would be good, wouldn’t it!?!? I use a Nikon D40 and my new lens that this was shot with is a Nikkor 300mm f/4D. I also got a teleconverter, but didn’t use it for this shot. I plan on using that on the Wildlife Refuge, but the new lens alone is perfect for my backyard!!
