Grand Opening at Funky Folks Crafts

I don’t know if most of you know or not, but my mom is quite the crafter.  She does crocheting and she makes beaded items and jewelry.  She does other things like knits and sews, but not as often as the other stuff.  Mom comes here every year in early December to participate in the craft sale on post.  She always does very well.  She also attends craft sales locally where she lives too, but it’s a much smaller area to try to sell at.

When Mom decided to retire, I suggested that she open an online store.  She thought about it and decided it might be a good idea.  I told her that I’d help her with it as much as I could.  I definitely wanted to set it all up for her.  After talking to people, I decided to direct Mom to Etsy.  I told her I’d set it up and handle all the photography and shipping.  She was responsible for the creating!!  My goal was to have it open by the new year, but no later than the end of January.  Well, I just made it!!

Mom’s store, Funky Folks Crafts, is now open at Etsy!!  Just for my blog readers, we’re offering a 25% OFF coupon.  Right now, there’s only about 10 items listed, but I’m adding more daily.  Weather permitting, I’ll add more tomorrow.  If you stop by and make a purchase, type in the code BLOG25OFF to receive your 25% off coupon during the check-out process.

If you’re interested in visiting Funky Folks Crafts, simply click the button below.  Remember your 25% off coupon code!!  Shop now because the coupon code expires on 12 February!!

If you do make a purchase, please keep in mind that we only ship on Tuesday and Friday.  Right now, we have a winter storm moving through and there is the possibility that power will go out or that I won’t be able to leave the house for a few days to ship any purchases.  If you don’t hear from me after a purchase, keep this in mind and know that we’ll be in touch and ship just as soon as possible!!

Pack Attack!!

What more needs to be said!?!?  The Packers did it!!  After all the smack by the Bears and their fans.  After the presidential endorsement.  After all the doubts.  Us tried and true fans came out on top with the BEST football team….the Green Bay Packers!!

It was a great game.  It got scary a couple times thinking that da Bears might make it back, but it never happened.  They couldn’t quite put anything together.  Although we seemed to be stopped on the field offensively, our defense came out in true form.  I totally disagree with a couple calls by the officials, but then again, I wouldn’t be a football fan if I didn’t.  I think the hit on Rodgers was unnecessary and showed just how desperate da Bears were.

I’d have to say the saddest part as a football fan was watching Chicago’s quarterback turn away from his team.  I don’t care what they try to say to cover it up in the days that follow.  That qb quit!!  He should be ashamed.  I’ve seen players hurt and I mean barely able to move hurt and stayed on that field.  Heck, as much as I dislike Farve, he did it!!  The qb leads the team, they don’t just pace the sidelines and act hurt when things don’t go right.  I say ditch the dude and keep that 3rd string qb.  He about ruined our day!!

Miss K was there the whole time with me.  We yelled and cheered.  A couple times, we thought we’d lose our voice!!  HAHA  My little Okie is quite the Packer Backer!!  I’m so proud.  HEHE  She wasn’t in her jersey yesterday though, but she did wear her Packer shirt she got for Christmas.  I’m quite sure come the Super Bowl, that Rodgers jersey is going to get a work-out though.

Oh man, I just love it.  NFC champs again!!  Never count a cheddarhead out!!  So just bring on the “puckers” and the “fudge packers” jokes.  We can take it!!  We know you’re just jealous that you’ll never be part of one of the BEST teams in the NFL or fans.  You can’t help it!!  Your jokes are old and they wore out long ago.  We’re going to Super Bowl XLV and even the Steelers can’t stop us now!!

GGOOOO PACKERS!!

There’s also a good selection of letter tile mats for the letter “Ll”.  As always, there’s also the “My Letter Ll Book” in both fonts as well.

You can find all my Letter of the Week activities for this week in the letter “Ll” folder. You can find that by clicking the button…..

If you use my printables, please leave a comment and let me know if you liked it or if the kids enjoyed the activity. I can only create from the input that I get from those that use it most often!! Foto Finish: Kodachrome

Foto Finish

This week’s Foto Finish is kodachrome.  That means that it’s all about color today!!  I chose one of my photos that I took over summer.  I had some good photos of flowers and bugs, but this one is a combination of both.  It fit the need well having plenty of vibrant color.  I like the deep pink/magenta flowers and the orange of the butterfly.

Now that I’ve explained my choice, you can look and decide for yourself!!  Here’s my Foto Finish….

Do you have anything for Foto Finish:  kodachrome??  If so, or if you’d like to see more Foto Finish, click the button above!!

Angels and Guardian Angels

Last week, my CCD lesson was angels and guardian angels.  I was disappointed because of all the many (and I mean MANY) workbooks and such that I have, there’s not much on angels.  My online search proved to find much of the same.  I thought for those of you perhaps doing a lesson on angels or needing materials might find some of what I found useful.

First, my class is starting to learn the “Guardian Angel Prayer”.  I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted, so I created a writing practice worksheet for them to do as homework.  I found a couple of amazing coloring pages here and here.  They both came from Catholic Parenting.  I placed these coloring pages on the side for the kids to color and the prayer along the other side for them to copy.  I find that even as little as they are, they memorize it quite well with printing practice!!  You can find my “Guardian Angel Prayer” copywork/printing practice by clicking the button….

In my search, I found some other good materials that I’d like to share with you.  At this site, you’ll find some really good angel printables including an angel shape book.  There’s a Jesus Loves Me and You angel coloring and writing practice sheets.  I found these fantastic coloring pages for the archangels at Waltzing Matilda.  In case you’re in need of coloring pages, take a look around her blog because she has lots of good ones!!  To go along with those archangels, there is one here with all 3 of them for their feast day.

Back at Waltzing Matilda, she has a great angel mobile craft.  For the littles, you’ll find coloring pages, crafts, and lessons.  If you browse DLTK, you’ll find “angels of the Bible”, along with other angel crafts and activities.  One can even get printable angel wings for paper dolls.

There are even angel cards and award certificatesCatholicMom.com has an Angel of God bookmark.  I don’t visit the site that often any more because well, I just don’t enjoy the format of it and I find it hard to navigate.  However, if you take the time, you’ll find more angel items and lots of great things on items that you might be working on!!  I found this Bible study worksheet on angels.

Now there’s a lot more angel printables out there.  Many of them are Christmas related, which really is a whole other topic.  There are just a few of my favorite things that I found, or things that I knew I could use now or in the future.  Hopefully you’ll find something to suit your needs among these links and ideas.

If you enjoy my blog, use my printables, or just stopped by, I’d appreciate it if you’d leave a comment.  If you’d rather, you can just vote for my blog by clicking one or all of the buttons in the right column under “Rate My Blog”.  I really appreciate anyone that does that because that’s what I use to know if my blog, posts, printables, and so on are being viewed and used!!

The current Letter of the Week is “Oo”.  I actually thought that this was going to be a hard letter to do, but it wasn’t.  I had some pretty good choices for words.  My real problem was finding the pictures to go with it!!

Arctic Blast

As with most of the U.S. we’ve been hit by an arctic blast.  Yesterday was COLD and today at it’s warmest was going to be 32 degrees.  That means not even over freezing!!  I must say that we’ve had it alright though.  I’m not going to complain at all!!  Sunday, my parents had lots of snow.  On Monday, when our first female governor was sworn in on the capital steps, the snow was falling.  We’re running the water at night with temps in the teens and single digits, but the insulation in the attic has already paid for itself!!

To go along with this arctic blast that we’re having, I wanted to share some printables.  It’s also a popular theme in schools right now.  Hopefully these few offerings will help out a little and I’m still wanting to make more!!

I have a few card games for those of you snowed in or just studying arctic/polar themes right now.  The first item is some Arctic Animals Pattern Match.  These are 2-part cards working on patterning skills.  The patterning on the arctic animal is matched to the patterning on it’s iceberg.  If you’re interested in this….

I also made 2 sets of memory match cards.  Both sets of these cards are matching pattern/texture.  The first one is Arctic Pattern Match where the pattern/texture of the Eskimo is matched to the pattern/texture of the igloo they live in.  The second one is Penguin & Iceberg Memory Match.  I was asked to make a set that was a “harder” than the first set to match, so I came up with these.  The pattern/texture in the tummy of the penguin is matched to the iceberg it lives on.  The tough part is, all the patterns/textures are snowflakes!!  If you’re interested in either set or both sets of these memory match cards….

If you use my printables or enjoy seeing what I create posted, please rate my blog at one or all of the sites listed below. I truly appreciate your support and it just lets me know that you use and need the materials that I create.

Foto Finish: Scenic

Foto Finish

This is coming in at the last minute, but I’m getting it posted!!  HAHA  I’ve missed the last couple and I didn’t want to miss out on another one.

This week’s Foto Finish is scenic.  I chose a picture of the Wildlife Refuge very close to where we live.  It’s always so pretty no matter when you go and it seems to always change.  I don’t think that I have any 2 pictures the same.  Along with beautiful scenery, you’ll find buffalo, longhorns, elk, deer, eagles, prairie dogs, dragonflies, and numerous other creatures.  It’s awesome having this so close to go and visit any time you need to get back in touch with nature.

Miss K narrowed my 4 choices of my favorite photos down to 2.  Here’s my Foto Finish….

I just love the blue sky and blue water in this one and how you can see the mountain range off in the distance.  Do I have better shots??  Maybe, but this is my scenic Foto Finish!!

If you’d like to see more Foto Finish, click the button above!!

Freebie-A-Day: Joseph’s Colorful Shape Coat

Can you believe today is the LAST day of my new feature “Freebie A Day”??  I hope that you enjoyed it.  I know that I did.  It kept me on my toes.  These weren’t downloaded in large amounts, but enough to make me think that they were used and enjoyed.  Therefore, I plan on doing this again!!  I can’t say when or what the theme will be, but this “feature” will come around again.

Today’s freebie is Joseph’s Colorful Shape Coat 2-Part Cards. This is a set of 2-piece cards. They work on shape recognition. The premise is that Jacob is teaching baby Benjamin all about shapes. To do this, he’s using the shapes in Joseph’s colorful shape coat.  The shape word that Jacob is teaching Benjamin will be matched to the shape in Joseph’s coat!!   I hope that this is something that you can use, and if you’re interested in today’s FREE printable, just….

In case some of you didn’t notice yesterday, there was a huge mistake with the coin cards.  If you downloaded it before I noted the error, please go back to yesterday’s post and download the corrected version.  I do apologize, but they’re fixed and ready to go!!

I think that about covers it.  Thanks for checking out my “Freebie A Day” and please come back often as I regularly offer my printables for download.  It’s also possible that this feature….or another…..might turn up soon!!  If you’ve enjoyed this feature, my printables, or just like reading my blog, please consider clicking one or all of the buttons below to rate/vote for my blog…..
