Macro Monday: Dragonfly

Posted by on 30 August 2010

First of all, I have to tell everyone who visited my blog last week for Macro Monday…..thank you!!  I went to so many blogs and left comments.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  However, I don’t know if I made it to every blog who came to visit me, so I apologize and I want you to know that I do appreciate you checking out my Macro Monday and leaving comments!!

Now for this week’s Macro Monday!!  Kiddo and I went out to the Wildlife Refuge and the day was just so beautiful.  It was almost like dragonfly heaven out there.  The only problem was that it was windy!!  As you’ll see in this series of shots, this poor dragonfly was hanging on for dear life.  The wind was just blowing his stick to and fro.  Sometimes, his wings would totally change shape and blow way over his head….the whole time, he’s just hanging on!!

Now of course, with him swinging in the wind, it made taking photos a challenge.  I was persistant and started moving with him….to and fro.  I managed to click off these and am happy with how they turned out.  I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did taking them!!

Wow, what a fantastic photo! Thanks for stopping by – I get caught up too and don’t visit as often as I should!!

Nice shots of a halloween pennant. Pennants always make such nice subjects for photography because they usually perch at the top of a stick or a plant which is how they got their name.

Love the colors and the wings’ markings!! Great photo share.

I was happy to see Ecobirder’s comment of the kind of dragonfly this was as I had never seen one.
I love the little red areas on his wings.
Even with the wind you captured him beautifully!
