T M S

Some of you may be wondering where I’ve been all weekend.  Well, the answer comes in 3 letters….T M S!!  We spent the day down in Ft. Worth at Texas Motor Speedway.  WooHoo

For those of you that know me, you know that we love racing in this house.  For those of you that don’t know me, you know this now!!  My parents came to town on Thursday and we headed to the track today.  All I can tell you is that we’re all wind burned, sunburned and we’ve all had rubber facials.  In other words, we had a BLAST!!

Our seats were on the backstretch, about in the middle.  We were only 3 rows up though.  Oh that sound when the engines started was amazing.  The entire day was a huge adrenaline rush.  The smell of fuel and rubber.  MMMM   Man, when they got the green flag and came by that first time, the seats literally trembled.  Totally awesome!!

We’ve never sat this close before, so we had no idea that we’d get blasted by tiny bits of rubber from the tires.  Not to mention sand and dust from the track.  I even had a small crushed bug land on my nose.  All I could do is laugh.  I thought I’d destroyed some bugs in my time, but it’s nothing compared to cars moving at 200 mph!!  We all had little black bits of rubber on our clothes and blankets.  That was one of the coolest parts!!

We have Team Hendrick covered when we sit in the stands.  I’m #88 Dale Jr, dad is #48 Jimmy Johnson and Miss K is #24 Jeff Gordon.  My mom likes #95 Bobby LaBonte and The Man doesn’t have a favorite, but he loves racing.  We picked on each other all the way down about who was going to win.  Miss K ended up with the winner!!  Jeff and Jimmy raced to the end, but Jeff got the win and it was his first at TMS.  Miss K was ssoooo excited!!

I can’t even begin to tell you how aweseom our day was.  We got the tickets for $40 each because they’ve lowered them for these economic times.  Otherwise, we probably won’t have gone this year….again.  We couldn’t pass that up and we deserved to do something for ourselves for a change.  TMS is what we chose!!  The whole race was great and there was very few cautions, which meant we got to see good solid racing the whole time.  My family and I are true NASCAR fans!!

Below you’ll find a couple pictures of our day at T M S….

How awesome! I have some men in this house who would be so jealous right now. $40? Wow! Too funny on the crushed bugs – you had a great attitude about it

Dale Jr and Jeff Gordon rock!

Yes Kathy, it was only $40. They said when tickets went on sale that many of the tracks were cutting prices because of the economic situation. And let me tell you, NASCAR is filling the stand because of it. They can do that though because sponsors (and a few other things) pay for the drivers salary. In other sports, they make so many millions of dollars a year that ticket prices HAVE to be too high for anyone to afford them.

We had the BEST time!! Glad you like our faves too!!
