Holiday Spirit

Posted by on 19 December 2008

For the time of the year that’s supposed to bring out the best in people, it sure does tend to bring out the worst in people!!

Normally, my shopping is done early, but this year it’s not.  I’m beginning to wonder if I’ll even make it by Christmas day.  I don’t even have Christmas dinner bought.  For some reason, it’s been a really busy end of the year for us and it’s catching up with me fast.  Despite all this, I’m still cheerful and ready to celebrate the holidays.  If I haven’t said it before, I love Christmas.  I love all special days and have a couple of favorites, but I just LOVE Christmas.  Having kiddo makes it even better!!

However, every year I find that people annoy me more and more.  I loathe going out for anything because people are just so RUDE!!  I realize that I’m doing this at the last minute and so are they.  So where’s the respect??  Where’s that holiday spirit??  It’s not my fault you’re running late.  I’m responsible for my own situation, so don’t lay your issues on me.

I’m tired of people bumping into me and looking like it’s my fault.  Not a sign of apology any place.  It pisses me off even more when they hit my daughter or act like she’s in the way.  She’s polite enough to say “excuse me” or something and they just snort at her.  It’s too bad my CHILD is a better example of manners and behavior than most adults are!!

Then there’s just plain stupidity.  Just tonight, we were out and had some dinner.  My light turned green to make a left turn and there was a car on my left making a left turn as well.  I never take off directly when the light changes….it’s just not safe!!  Anyway, I started to go and I notice off my right front corner that the idiot across the street decided to run his red light and go strait when I’m supposed to be making my left.  I slammed on the brakes and blew my horn.  He stopped in the middle of the intersection.  Then the IDIOT had the nerve to blow his horn and shake his fist at me.  Excuse me dude, I had the green light to turn…..YOU still had the red light to go strait.  Just because it’s Christmas, the signal light procedures haven’t changed and just because you’re in a hurry to get to the bar doesn’t mean that you have a right to take my family out!!

And one more thing for you out running holiday errands…..HANG UP AND DRIVE!!  If you forgot what you were after or need someone to start dinner, pull over and make your call.  If you’re on the phone, you’re NOT concentrating on the road and I don’t need my insurance going up because you feel the need to talk and drive and you’re probably talking about trivial CRAP anyway!!

Now, where’s that holiday spirit??  Some of us would really like to be here and enjoy this time of the year!!

Thank God for guardian angels to watch over us in all our endevors and holiday gatherings!!

I’ve got my spirit. Just as cautious as you though when I’m driving. The crazies I encounter usually have out-of-state plates and don’t know where they’re going. LOL Then again, NJ drivers are an abomination because they aren’t really taught how to drive to begin with. If you can make a K turn and sort of parallel park, you get a license. A K turn is used quite often I guess. I could probably count on one hand the times I’ve ever done one though. LOL

PS: That was sarcasm about the turn being used often. Only the crazy drivers do them. Hee hee.

WELL…I got bumped in the butt of my car this week. Five times by a 74 year old lady with no insurance. I was trying to get my one day of shopping in and WHAM…she hit me again, again, again, again, and again. I knew I needed a wake up call but not this.
I am lucky to say I am fine except for a messed up neck.

I love Christmas too. I haven’t bought a single present. Yes, you heard me. Not a present so far. Then I had Christmas with family members both today and tomorrow. That leaves me Monday. I can do it. ( I am the Little Engine That Could).

    Merry Christmas to you!

I got the sarcasm, Debbie!! 😉 Everyone here is “out of state”, being it’s a military town. We have to get our new drivers license within 30 days of him getting out. The state doesn’t even have the books to study, but they expect us to print them off the internet!! ARG

Just squeeze your head so it pops, Laura!! Then no more congestion!! LOL

I’m sorry you’re feeling bad though. Go out and look at all the decorations and enjoy the sights of the holidays. That’ll cheer you up!!

Oh Tammy, I’m sorry to hear about the “bumps”. How horrible!! You need to take it easy and just let things come together on their own. Enjoy the holidays and your boys. Everything will be alright!!

And, I know you can, you little engine!!

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Tammy!!
