Potluck

Posted by on 9 October 2008

Today’s posting will be a little bit of everything.  A potluck, so to speak!!

I’m still in a tither about politics.  I fear one day soon, I’ll be walking down the street with smoke coming out of the top of my head.   This election is so far over the top that it’ll be years before it surfaces again.  I think the only reason that it bothers me so much is that I see people falling for it.  They can’t see through the smile and charm.  It shouldn’t be that hard to realize that they’re just being told what they want to hear and not what’s really going to happen.  I’m going to leave it at that though.  It’s not worth spending more time on.  I just know for certain that my voice will be heard.  I may only be one person, but it’s 1 vote.  Somehow….someway, that vote counts!!

Our annual chruch Fall Carnival is this weekend.  I’ll be there when it opens to work the moon bounce.  I’ll have to monitor all the kiddies in there jumping around.  It doesn’t take much for it to get out of control!!  After I’ve done my hour, I’m going to walk around with kiddo and check out the other booths.  We’ll make an attempt at the Cake Walk.  Last year, we won a delicious cake!!  And to think it cost me all of $2 (2 tries) to win this delightful treat!!  Then we’ll head home and watch movies.  However, right now, I’m having hard time typing.  I’m nursing sore fingers.  I helped the DRE blow up balloons for the dart toss.  I tore the cuticle on one and it’s throbbing.  One of my other fingers is bruised.  Of course, I’ll survive, but what a pain!!

Hubby is on duty tonight.  The babies are in the field and it’s his night to babysit.  He says it’s a beautiful night out there.  Perfect weather.  That means I’m all alone with my tv!!  HAHA

In one of the groups I’m in, someone requested a Pumpkin Parable game.  Well, I just so happen to have one that I created last year.  It was too large of a file to post as a message, so I offered to send it privately or upload to an online file storage like 4Shared or something similar.  One person in particular accepted, so I uploaded it for her.  She said she got it and thanked me.  Others asked me to change the format of the game and try to make it smaller.  Nothing wrong with that at all.  However, I’ve tried many many formats for it.  All too large to go through mail to a group.  Anyway, I received an e-mail stating that they thought they saw my game sent into a different group than I’d shared it in.  This person stated that they’d send it to me so I could check it out.  Sure enough, it was MY game.  I only shared it with one person and their name was on the mail message that was in this other group.  They never asked my permission for another group or to try the one that wanted it.  Such total lack of respect.  I won’t stop sharing, but I’m quite frustrated.  I get alot of materials that I don’t remember or know where they come from, but I state that.  I at least note what group I got them from.  However, this lady got the game from ME just TODAY.  And not a mention of it.  Just took it upon herself to send it to another group.  Respect is so big with me.  To me, that was just a total lack of respect, no matter how you look at it.  Had she asked if she could share it, I’d have said “yes”.  It’s an honor to have people using the games I make.  Laura and Debbie and relate to this.  However, there was nothing!!  ARG

Fall Break is next week, but the Schoolhouse will still be in session.  That’s how we’ll get out a week or more before all the local schools.  We don’t need any Fall Break.  I don’t think I even have Spring Break scheduled.  It’s just not needed.  Most of our days are short compared to public/private school.  We work hard and get it done.  We have our weekends.  We don’t have homework, except when a test is scheduled.  She does have to read on her own time.  So, no “breaks” for us.  We take time when we need it, as we need it.  It allows us to start later and end sooner!!  WooHoo

Alright, well that sums things up for tonight.  I guess me not posting as much has lowered my readership.  My stats are way down.  Oh well, I must do what I have to.  I just don’t have as much time as I used to in order to allow for more frequent blog posts.  I hope my friends and loyals will stick with me.  I’m still here!!  HAHA  Ya’ll have a good one!!  OUT!!

Don’t worry about the stats. You have a full life to live. I really wonder about some. Well, it is 3:32 to be exact. I could not sleep. I decided I would float around and get caught up.

You have been busy…don’t even get me started on the politics. Doom.

We are having our Fall Break this week. It has been nice having Mitchell and Dylan at home.

    You take care.

Oh, that Moon Bounce thing does get wild. Have a whistle you can blow to get the kids attention so they will stop.

Yeah, I can just imagine where our games are that we have made. Oh, well, at least the kids will enjoy them.

I’m so glad that homeschooling is going well. I told you it would! 🙂

Politics are depressing now. I’m thinking how many years left until America falls.

On a happier note, we are going to the famous Goat Festival in TN today. We went to a pumpkin patch this weekend.

IT IS SO HARD TO CHOOSE WHO SHOULD BE PRESIDENT!

  5. Edward

EVEN THOUGH I CAN’T VOTE BUT, I do have a right of opinion.

Nice vampire teeth on that emotion icon Robin
    Sampson.

Yes Tammy, life is quite full right now. I’m pretty happy with it this way too. It keeps me on my toes!! I was probably up at the same time since hubby wasn’t home!! Too bad we missed each other. Enjoy your time with the boys. It’s so worth it!! Just be sure to keep in touch!!

I thought it would go good, but not this good, Laura. She’s doing so well. Even better than I thought. I write her grades down every day, but I had no idea she was going to make “A & B Honor Roll”. Yes, we’re even doing that at her insistance. But hey, why not….she does earn the grade!!

We all make them to be shared by the kids. They’re for them more than anything. Sometimes the way things happen just gets so frustrating!!

Robin, thanks for stopping by my blog!! It is quite depressing right now. All we can do is keep our hopes and pray. We’ve pulled our country out before and we can do it again.

I browsed your blog. Very nice and loved the Pumpkin Patch photos!!

You do have the right to an opinion, but you don’t fully understand the process or the candidates, Edward. You have alot to learn. I don’t think (and never have agreed with) elections in the classroom. Most kids only know what they hear at home from parents, family and their friends. I didn’t like it when I was in school either. You and K are no exception to only knowing what you see and hear from those close to you, despite how smart you both are.

    Next time, ONE comment…..not 3!!

I’m not thrilled with either choice for president this time. But, McCain comes closer to my beliefs. At least he seems to be more consistent in what his beliefs are. Obama is so wishy-washy. The thought of him as president sickens me…. for many, many reasons.

I have to just remind myself that God is STILL in control no matter who is in the white house.

When I taught we would have mock elections but over hamburgers vs. hotdogs. Then whichever one won we had that at school for lunch! It was fun and the kids really got into it.

You’re right, kids are only going to know what their parents are saying. Which, as a parent, I’m happy my child hears what we are saying.

Sorry that you didn’t get kudos for your game in the other group. At least you know others are going to be enjoying it. 🙂

We’re still getting a lot of press about your election down under. Its hard to make heads or tails of it though with what we see.

I’m with you on the school house timetable. I did correspondence school for my last few years of high school – I would start at 7am and would work furiously till lunchtime when I would be finished for the day. Then I could either do another day’s work if I felt fresh enough or just had the afternoon off. Get in, get it done and get out 😉

Now that’s a kids vote, Dawn!! Sounds very fun.

God is the one in control and will ultimately look after us. It’s going to take alot of prayers and belief to make it through this.

It’s become the lesser of 2 evils in the case of this election!!

  14. Elaine

Annette, I’m sure it’s very confusing for the rest of the world. This election is hard enough for us Americans!! LOL

We love the fact our Schoolhouse starts later and gets out earlier. I’d rather take time as we need it as opposed to taking all this time off they do in public/private school.

  15. Debbie

How rude about your game! Did you give her a lashing?! On the brighter side, at least she liked it enough to share with others. She didn’t take credit for it though, did she?

Your carnival sounds fun! Did you have caramelled apples? 🙂

Fall Break? We don’t have that. We had Columbus Day off for “teacher in-service”. Won’t have more time off till Thanksgiving. And still they don’t get out till mid-June.

Off to take the Match test.

  16. Elaine

No Debbie, she didn’t take credit at all. She was trying to get it out to people who needed it. I was just so darn frustrated over it not working for me. It upset me to no end, but it’s over now. I just hope some members are using it.

I missed out on the carmel apples, but everything went great. We had an absolutely beautiful day for it and it seemed like an awesome turnout.

They went to school on Columbus Day and they’re off Wednesday for parent/teacher conferences, then off for “Fall Break” on Thursday and Friday. Never understood this break myself and never had it when I was growing up.
