Chinese Gymnasts

Posted by on 22 August 2008

I always check out my e-mail and browse around a bit before coming to do my blog.  Of course I heard during Olympic coverage that the IOC (International Olympic Committee) is going to investigate the allegations that China sent underage girls to the Olympics to compete in gymnastics.  As I’m reading this story, I begin to read the comments below the article.  Let me tell you, I was shocked at what people had to say.  They called the columnist names.  They called the Americans names.  Some of this came from Americans.  Many said we were poor sports and jealous of the gold China won.  It sickened me the crap that I read in the comments section.  Now I’ve been around the internet a very long time.  I know many people spew that kind of bs because they want attention and it usually gets them what they want.  Another reason is because people are very brave when they can hide behind a computer screen and let the keyboard do the talking.

I for one am ecstatic that the IOC will be investigating this.  I don’t give a rats @ss what country you’re from, if you cheat, you deserve to lose your medals.  When any country pisses hot or athlete admits to doping, they lose their medals and the statistics are readjusted.  Yes, I’ve had a blast doing my nightly update on medals, but it means nothing to me if my country doesn’t deserve it.  And I’m far from biased as I’ve tried to “report” on many events and countries during the Olympics.  So if someone wants to call me names and try to insult me, fine by me, but they had better be able to back it up.  A cheater is a cheater and there is no other name for it.  Men and women, many still boys and girls, from countries all over this world work their living butts off to get where they are and they don’t do drugs or cheat to get there.  They deserve to be there.  If you have to use underage girls to get medals, then even for a Communist country, you’re sick.  Period!!

Some idiot that was commenting was trying to insult the columnist by saying that they needed to be edited because they couldn’t keep track if the person they were talking about was a he or a she.  Perhaps that person had better put the crack pipe down and know what they’re talking about before insulting someone.  Even a columnist they might not like.  The Chinese gymnast that is being investigated is named He.  However, He is a she.  DUH!!  Crap or get off the toilet people.  My daddy always told me, “don’t open your mouth if all you can do is put your foot into it”.  If you don’t know that the person in the article is named He and that person is a she, please do yourself a favor so you don’t look like the idiot that you are and walk away from the keyboard.

{DEEP BREATH}

With that said and done, it was another fairly exciting night for the Olympics.  Can I just say that I was on the edge of my seat through the whole men’s volleyball game.  Holy moly!!  Miss K was asleep and hubby was still at work.  One dog was by my side and the other at my feet.  I couldn’t scream, but I jumped up and tried to hit the ball a few times to help!!  Dalhausser and Rogers played an exciting game.  The first set went back and forth.  The second set was horrible for the U.S. team.  The third set, they were fired up and kicked some booty!!  Man, that was fun….and nerve racking!!  The U.S. took home bronze in women’s BMX and silver and bronze in men’s BMX.  BMX??  YEESH  Another bronze for us in equestrian for individual jumping.  However, our men’s and women’s relay teams failed to qualify for the finals.  The women’s softball and water polo both had surprising upsets, both taking home silver.  How about that German gold medalist in the heavy division of weightlifting.  He lost his wife last year in a car accident and during the medal ceremony, held up her picture and said it was for her.  Amazing people and stories out there!!  I didn’t see any unusual or noteworthy countries on the medal list.  It’s just great to see so many countries with at least one medal.  What pride that must be.  Still nothing for Belgium.  What a shame.  It’s not over though, so we can hope and pray.  With that, tonight’s medal count is:

    I knew it was coming. And BAM! There she blows. LOL I am so glad they’re going to investigate. I have a feeling, and I hope I’m wrong, that nothing will come of it. It will be hard to prove if the government is in on it.

    I know you’re right Debbie. They’re already saying there isn’t enough evidence. Supposedly, it’s still an open investigation though. I didn’t blow too bad!! LOL

    I’m glad I could help Elaine. I haven’t had an issues, but that doesn’t mean that some aren’t. You know how computers and the internet can be!!

    And no, it’s not good when you have to lie and cheat to get gold. Shame on them!! I wouldn’t respect anyone who does that.
