100th Post!!

Posted by on 15 August 2008

{stands to take a bow}  I’d like to thank all my loyal readers who come back day after day, my hubby, daughter, family and friends, our dogs, people in general, our homeschool and anything in general that makes this blog the “commotion from the ocean of life” that it is and my writing inspiration on a daily basis.  Thank you….thank you one and all!!  {enters reality again}

This is my 100th post though.  Amazing!!  It took me exactly 4 months to get here.  Who would have ever thought when I started this, that I’d get to this point!?!?  I’ve met some really great people while blogging, found a fun way for family and friends to keep up with us and an interesting way to release frustrations, bounce ideas or whatever else is needed to make my life as good as it can be.  So fun, exciting, annoying and addicting!!

I hope this isn’t too hard for tired oldmy precious readers eyes to read.  So, what do I blog about for my 100th post??  HHMMMM  As I think most of you know, homeschool starts on Monday.  I’m both excited and terrified.  I guess something would be wrong with me if I wasn’t.  I found some great PowerPoint presentations today that will be helpful for a variety of topics.  I have about a month of complete lesson plans done.  I went further in math and language arts because I’m using curriculum for them.  It’s much easier to plan ahead.  Science and social studies, I’m going to work my way into.  I didn’t do much advance plans because I need to see how long topics are going to take us.  I also have my read-aloud list of books, but no set schedule for them.  Much of that will depend on how much time we have to devote to them.  I haven’t posted lesson plans or materials lately because much of what I have isn’t coming from the internet or other sources.  I don’t think I’ve mentioned it before today, but I found out at our dentist appointment that 4-H has really expanded the things that the kids can do.  We were excited to find out that 4-H actually has pets (dogs) now.  So, Miss K is going to join and begin to train and show the big boy.  I’m so happy that she found something to get into that she really likes doing.  I didn’t use to care so much, but now that she’s at home, I think it’s important for her to be around other kids and activities and still be able to do something she can have fun with.

You know that I can’t go without mentioning the Olympics.  I’m having a blast with it this year.  Maybe it’s because K is so much into it as well.  We had our first track and field events tonight.  The U.S. had me wondering, but they really pour it on at the end.  I saw a great interview with the gymnastics girls that won gold and silver last night.  It’s amazing what good friends they are and how happy they are for each other.  There’s no signs of jealousy or resentment.  The pros could really take something away watching the amateurs giving it their all and their spirit and they do it all without making millions of dollars.  Mark Spitz watched from home as his record was broke by Michael Phelps.  In his interview, he was so kind and gracious and truly supported Phelps and was happy for him.  OMG….did you see the finish to that 100m butterfly by Michael Phelps!?!?  I was holding my breath and on the edge of my seat.  The dude literally won by a fingernail length.  Even the U.S. men’s beach volleyball was a nail biter!!  The Swiss gave these guys a run for their money, but Dalhausserand Rogers pulled it off in style in the 3rd match.  I wanted to say that the small French speaking country in Africa that I mentioned last night is Togo.  Currently, there’s 15 countries with just 1 medal each.  Of those, 3 have gold, 4 have silver and 8 have a bronze.  It’s really great that they get their country on the medals map!!  Did you know that 15 medals have already been awarded for cycling??  I know I didn’t and I sure wish we had better coverage of these events.  There’s been 12 medals awarded for archery, 8 for equestrian and a several more for judo, wrestling and weight lifting.  So for tonight and my 100th post, tonight’s final medal count is:

United States 15 14 19 48

    Thanks Elaine and it’s always good to see you. You might actually want to try heat on that dental work. My dentist says that if it still hurts with ice after an hour, to switch to heat. It’s never failed to work….for me at least. Good luck!!

    Is the a/c fixed yet??

  3. Elaine

    thanks, it’s great to see you too! i’ll try that bit of advice, they told me to use heat today, but they said if it felt swollen to use cold, and i felt swollen, sooooo… but maybe i’ll switch to heat after a bit.. thanks for your help 🙂

    The first question I ask myself when something doesn’t seem to be beautiful is why do I think it’s not beautiful. And very shortly you discover that there is no reason.JohnCageJohn Cage

    I forgot to comment on this! Congrats on your 100th!! Strange comment above from Ecuador!?

    I saw a horrible you tube video on one of the weightlifters. I cringe everytime I think about it. Couldn’t even bring myself to find out what happened to him. His pain was mine, if you know what I mean.

    Dang! The US needs to bump up the golds. Can’t have China beating us.
