I’d have to say that today went much better. We still have a ways to go. I actually think today was about her testing my limits. A “game” she knows that we do NOT play!!
Today was all about China. She labeled a map of China, learned about foods, economy and so on of China. Oh goodness, I can’t even remember what else we did. Ah yes, she had to put 33 of the olympic events in alphabetical order and she had to put scrambled sentences in the proper order. Testing the limits came in for her journal entry. She was instructed to write a whole page (preprinted notebooking page) on the country she chose to follow during the Olympics. She asked half a dozen silly questions and I do mean silly. She didn’t use her words and only ended up doing half a page. She wasn’t happy when I graded it (spelling and content) and gave her a grade of a “C”. She thought that was a bit tough. I asked if she followed directions and she just put her head down and walked away. She found her limit!!
K also practiced her spelling words and chose 3 of them as vocabulary to look up in a dictionary. Since she’s such a good speller, this is how I plan to work on expanding her language or vocabulary usage. When she chooses these words, she has to find synonyms, antonyms, definition, use the word in a sentence and draw a picture of it. Instead of just spelling them, which seems to come so easy to her, she’s actually learning how to use the word as well.
Tomorrow, we’ll do more on China. Thursday, we’ll begin Ancient Olympics and continue on Friday. There won’t be anything but keeping track of the medals over the weekend. All next week, we’ll spend on the different Olympic events. I’m trying to cover a variety of subjects while doing the topic of Olympics. I have cool math sheets for next week!!
Alright, I’m out for tonight. I’m slowly getting caught up on my blog reading. They’re so much more interesting than mine!! HAHA
