I want to touch on a couple of popular homeschool topics that are currently in the news for this post. There’s many people that are working on or planning on working on units for the 2008 Bejing Olympics and the upcoming presidential election. You know from a previous blog that The Schoolhouse will be doing a unit on the Summer Olympics very soon. I’d like to share some of my materials that I’ll be using in hopes that it’ll be able to help others as well.
First is a great free lapbook. Everything you need to do a complete 2008 Summer Olympic lapbook is here. You can also get a nice notebooking page here that is for Ancient Olympics. I’ve also gotten some good supplemental pages here. There’s also nothing better than going here, strait to the source for Olympic education materials. Teacher Vision offers 3 free downloads here for their 2008 Olympic materials. For other sources, I’d just recommend a good old fashioned Google search with a variety and combination of words to include free, Olympic, printables, teacher resources, education and others that you can come up with.
I haven’t been as thorough for my election material. I have a bit more time to work on organizing that. However, I’d like to share the awesome lapbook pages I found here. There is also a 3-part download for great election notebooking pages here. There’s also some good lapbook pages here that could stand alone or use with additional materials. I’ll share other material that I get for the presidential election later, but those are the best finds so far.
I hope this will help some to understand a few things that we’ll be studying here at The Schoolhouse. I also hope that it’ll help other homeschoolers on their quest for materials on the Olympics and the elections.
