Princess for a Night

Posted by on 28 June 2008

The man and I went to the All Ranks Ball last night.  I’ve been looking forward to and the event didn’t let me down.  Actually, I was quite surprised that it wasn’t as formal as usual.  Many of the ladies were “dressed down” last night.  More short dresses and dressy dresses than I’ve seen before.  There was a fair share of nice formals though.

I’m so glad I got the gown that I did.  It was so different for me.  I wore green!!  I also had a fair amount of cleavage this time.  Not too much, but it flattered my chest.  I felt absolutely great!!  My shoes, wrap and bag all came from different places, but the gold all matched perfectly.

Soldier boy was in his dress blues.  Always a spiffy sight to see!!  About the only thing I miss seeing him that dressed up is the brown round.  I’ve gotten rather accustomed to seeing him in it.

We took pictures before we left home.  That’s always fun!!  We also took a great picture at the Ball.  They had a photographer taking free portraits.  The last one we went to, there was no pictures.  We were standing next to a cannon for this portrait.  I can’t wait for them to get back!!

The night pretty much went off without a hitch.  We didn’t get to see the video.  For some reason, after 3 practices, they couldn’t get it to work for the event itself.  Typical Army!!  HAHA  The food was good.  The company at the table was fun.  I guess the only thing is that it was over too soon.  The music started around 2100 hours and more than half the guests made a run for the door.  That left the rest of us to have some fun though!!  I even got the man and his blues out on the dance floor.  I did the electric slide twice… my heels!!  HAHA  I didn’t even had a drink!!  (Maybe that was the problem!!)

I should mention that the biggest feat of the night was that kiddo stayed home alone.  I’m so very proud of her.  This was a huge step for K.  After 4 people not being able to watch her, we had decided that I’d just stay home.  That got her to thinking that she just wasn’t going to let that happen.  So, we got her all set up and we headed off.  I only called twice to check on her and she was having a blast.  She played her computer game all night and ate all kinds of junk food.  Life doesn’t get any better when you’re a “big kid”!!

I’d say that I’ll post some pictures when I get them back, but I won’t.  I already owe this blog a few others that I just haven’t gotten to.  With that, I’m out.  Just remember to….

Dance like nobody is watching!!

Thanks!! I’m really glad that we were able to go too. We had fun and it was nice to be “just us” for the night.

Sounds like you had a great time! It’s fun to get all dolled up sometimes. Glad you went. I had to laugh about K having a blast home alone. I remember how much fun that was. Wait, sometimes it still happens and it’s still fun. LOL

HAHA You’re so right Debbie!! It IS fun!! It doesn’t happen often, but I can say that I STILL enjoy it.

We had a blast at the Ball!! I can’t wait to get the formal pictures back. We don’t very often get to go on a date and we like it that way, but when we do, we do it up right!!
