Doctor’s Report

Posted by on 26 June 2008

It was off to the doctor for me today.  Time once again for my 3-4 month labs and diabetes check.  In many ways, I was dreading it.  However, I must say that it all turned out very well.  My A1C was 6.2, which is down 0.2 lower than last time.  Anything under 7 is good!!  Lately, that hasn’t been what’s tripping me up though.  It’s been my cholesterol, which dropped drastically this time!!  YAY!!  My triglycerides were 227 last time and down to 170 this time.  That’s so amazing!!  Ideally, I should be 150 or less, but that’s just huge progress.  My overall cholesterol was 207 last time and down to 177 this time.  Anything under 200 is good for that, so once again, amazing progress!!  Go mmeeee!!  I’ve told some of ya’ll I’m just too stubborn to let it win.

The thing I dislike most about retirement coming up is that I’m probably going to have to change doctors.  More than likely that will mean going off post.  I don’t like that idea at all.  Obviously the meds I’m on now, alone with diet and exercise are working.  I hate the idea of starting all over again with a new doctor who won’t listen to me and just has to do it their way.  As many of you know, I haven’t had the best of luck with doctors.  It’s been really hard for me.  I’ve had one go as far as tell me that I was going to die on the table when I had my hysterectomy to ones that just think because they have the degree, that they know more about me than I do.  I’ve had medicines change and not get such good reactions to the doc that I have now that totally works with me.  And, it’s working!!  ARG  I just dread the thought.

Well, that’s all I have to report.  Sorry to all of you who don’t understand or want to read about boring medical numbers.  However for me, I’m ssoooo excited about the report I got today.

Thank you, Laura!! It’s a long road, but I’m happy with where I’m at right now. I have to battle with my Dad to see which of us can beat the odds and live the longest (and be the most stubborn)!! HEHE
