Earlier, I made note of all the “famous” people that share my birthday. I don’t know how because, I’ve known since he became Pope, but today is also the birthday of Pope Benedict XVI. (I didn’t realize though, until today, that we’re exactly 40 years apart in age. Interesting!!) The Pope celebrated by meeting a large crowd on the lawn of the White House. He will spend time with Pres. Bush and meet with American Cardinals and Bishops. He’ll also take a tour of D.C. in his popemobile. What a way to see the city!! The Pontiffs 81st birthday is to be filled with much pomp and circumstance.
What a sight it was to see a picture of Nancy Pelosi kissing the ring of the Pope. I won’t even get into my opinion of HER. I’ll just say it was nice to see her bow to someone as special as the Pope.
Happy Birthday, Pope Benedict XVI!!
“So I went forward in my life, and thanks to God, the Lord has always taken me by the hand, guided me even in difficult situations.” – Pope Benedict XVI
Yes, that’s right. Today, I set the cake on fire!! Another year older and hopefully another year wiser!!
It’s hard to share the day when you’re so great *cough* but others have a birthday today as well. Other famous people who share this day are actors Charlie Chaplin and Peter Ustinov, composer Henry Mancini, singer Bobby Vinton, actress Ellen Barkin, comedian Martin Lawrence and the one I thought was so cute, Jimmy Osmond!! There is one that “K” won’t let me forget I share the day with….that’s the ever famous man that put us in flight, aviator Wilbur Wright. Ah yes, a day of the greats!! (And just think, you’re taxes are all done too!!)
I have no plans for today other than to just enjoy the day. We’re expecting a glorious spring day and I fully intend to take advantage of it. I’m going to have a nice long bubble bath and read a book!! Hubby is off after his 24 hours of duty, so we’ll have some quality time before the sh*t hits the fan tomorrow and they pick up a new batch of baby boys. He’s laying on the futon this very minute reading the new Trace Adkins book. He loves it!! He says that man has a head on his shoulder and I still say he SHOULD HAVE won Celebrity Apprentice!!
Today is the oral presentation for “K” on her Geography Fair project. She’s speaking Choctaw pretty well now. At least the basic greetings!! HAHA As long as she’s confident, she’ll make it through today since itt’s only the presentation for the class. Oh and get this….tomorrow they present their projects to the judges. For that there’s no worries….she can do it!! However, there’s no breaks with this teacher. He has them scheduled to take 3 tests tomorrow, on top of the Geography Fair. When these kids should be relaxing and getting in the right mindset, he has them studying for tests. TESTS!! SHEESH So, “K” will not only be “practicing” for the judges, but she’ll also be studying spelling, science and religion. GGRRRR ‘Nough said!!
I don’t think I have anything else to contribute today. I’m going to go enjoy “MY” day and I hope that you can enjoy yours as well.
Blessings my family and friends!! With that, I leave with a quote from Wilbur Wright….
“It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skill.”
